We at Innovative Chiropractic and Massage have had a few questions about whether or not we are “Open” and of chiropractic care is an essential service. We are open.
All health care professions are considered essential services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, acupuncture, emergency dentistry, chiropractic, etc. (the list is very long).

We want to thank you for your continued trust and confidence in us during this unprecedented time of crisis for our country and community. We are grateful for the opportunity to play an important role during this challenging time.
Take care of your body and spine during this time to prevent Back Pain, neck pain, headaches and any soft tissue problems. These can get worse without attention.
We are willing and able to help your family, friends or coworkers to relieve any possible stress on the health care system.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF…
- you have any signs or symptoms of feeling sick with a fever
- you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Then – PLEASE RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT for at least 14 days after you are no longer feeling sick and exhibiting symptoms.
Please take your temperature before coming for your appointment. If your temperature is elevated above normal, please reschedule.
Below is a list of steps that we are taking to help prevent the spread of COVID19 while continuing to promote the health and well-being of our patients and community:
- We are disinfecting all tables, chairs, and countertops multiple times per day.
- We are disinfecting the treatment table and treatment tools in between patient visits.
- Dr. Rivera disinfecting and washing his hands in between patient visits.
- If you prefer to be adjusted privately let us know and we will adjust you in a sterilized room.
We believe that with these action steps we can play a vital role in helping our patients and community to continue to improve their health while simultaneously preventing the spread of COVID-19.
The Washington State Department of Health considers chiropractic an essential healthcare service. Doctors of chiropractic are portals of entry health care providers and have the ability to provide differential diagnosis and either treat the patient or make a referral to an appropriate specialist.
With our hospitals and medical facilities being potentially overwhelmed during this crisis, CHIROPRACTIC care helps ease the burden.
Low back pain is the second most common symptom-related reason for seeking care from a primary care physician. (1) Low back pain alone (not including neck pain, headaches, etc.) places a great BURDEN upon our healthcare system.
We continue to see several people who have significant spinal pain who need our help and I am glad that I am available to help them. We continue to receive words of gratitude from our patients for remaining open to serve their needs.

With regard to infectious disease such as Covid19 and how to protect our health it is helpful to think of a mathematical equation:
- Good Hygiene Practices + Good Health Practices = Greater Immunity + Lower Chance of Infection
Good Hygiene Practices
There is no shortage of information about this available. Wash your hands frequently, especially after touching surfaces where other people touch. Keep your hands away from your face. Don’t let people sneeze on you and don’t sneeze on other people. Etc. Again, there is an abundance of information available on this topic.
Good Health Practices
Lacking from the authorities is how to improve your health and the strength of your immune system. This is just as vital in keeping you healthy and minimizing your chances of getting sick from Covid19, and all infections. This really applies all the time, to also minimize chances of becoming sick with the flu or common cold.
Below is a list of things you can do to boost your immunity and your overall health status. References are provided as support for these recommendations.
